Top Ten Ways to Get Your Lake House Holiday Ready
Kristin is a blogger from the northwoods of Wisconsin who shares some of the most BEAUTIFUL views of her home and adventures on the water, constantly inspiring me and getting me Pinterest-happy. I had the pleasure of meeting her this past summer at the Manitowish Waters Pop-Up Market with the Northerly Collective, which just confirmed that this gal was as sweet as she seemed. I’m thrilled she’s sharing her thoughts about decorating for the Holidays, as her home and lake-life styling is creative, lovely, and so inspiring! I am so excited to be a guest today sharing ideas for getting your lake home Holiday ready! My name is Kristin and I live lakeside in a full log cabin in the beautiful Lakeland area of Wisconsin's Northwoods in the charming town of Minocqua. I share about my life, decor, traditions and Northwoods Living on my blog, White Arrows Home. Holidays at the lake make some of the best memories. Surrounded by the beautiful landscape of lake and wood, the scene is already set for magic. Here are 10 easy ways to get your lake house holiday ready!

Minnow Buckets

Fill vintage minnow buckets with poinsettias, evergreens or birch branches for instant festive lake decor.

Oh Christmas Tree

Christmas trees at the lake house can be decorated in many styles, even nautical. If you live lakeside in the woods, a plaid and camp themed tree is perfect. Birch garland and a wool camp blanket as a tree skirt add finishing touches.

Don't Forget the Boathouse & Lake View

If you have a boathouse or structure by the water, it's the perfect place to decorate for the holidays by simply adding a wreath, some greenery or lights. One of the most beautiful views of a lake home is from the back of the house where it is seen from the water. Don't forget to decorate where the Christmas tree lights from indoors or outside decor can be enjoyed from the water or frozen lake as people still boat or snowmobile by.

Christmas Campfire

The Campfire isn't just for summer. Curl up in vintage camp blankets and enjoy hot chocolates and sing Christmas Carols around the fire.

Nautical Touches

No need to put away the nautical decor at the end of summer - keep your favorite decor up year round and just tuck in the holiday. This wooden boat makes a perfect centerpiece on a green plaid tablecloth with holiday china.

Guest Ready

Relatives and friends love to visit the lake over the holidays. Have some special touches there to welcome them like holiday pillows and open baskets ready for their mittens, hats and winter gear.

Games Galore

One of the most fun parts of the holidays and time at the lake is playing games together. Keep the games in sight by stacking them on a bookshelf in your gathering spaces.

Warm Drinks

Whether a coffee bar, hot chocolate station or hot toddies by the fire, nothing makes a lake house more cozy than a self-serve space to make a favorite drink. This tea towel sums up life at the lake and family time together over the holidays, "The Lake Anchors the Soul." Find this great towel and others hereat Lake Effect & Co.

Add Layers

Getting cozy is a top priority while at the lake, especially over the holidays. Be sure to have blankets over the chairs, extra throw pillows and a delicious candle burning. This Bourbon Spiked Cider candle is just one of the wonderful candles available from Lake Effect & Co.

Tradition

Start some traditions like a family dinner out at a local supper club. Our favorite here in Minocqua is Norwood Pines. It is gorgeous during the holidays!
